A WORD FROM ROBERT JODOIN
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Blues... Blues… Blues… Oh, I how I love those Blues!
50 years of a life filled with music, yet it’s the same for me every
year… I feel as passionate about music now as I did in the beginning.
And its through this emotionally rich music, so simple yet so complicated
to grasp, that again this year I am going to try to pass on and share this
passion with you.
I truly hope that music will become as much a part of you as it is a part of
me, and that it will stay with you for the rest of your life.
Robert Jodoin began his musical studies at age 6. Three years later, he discovered
the instrument that would accompany him for the rest of his life: the trumpet.
He completed his college studies in music at CÉGEP Saint-Laurent and
his university studies at the Université de Montréal and the
Université du Québec à Montréal. His long and prolific
career as a music teacher with the Commission scolaire de Montréal (CSDM)
enabled him to carry out numerous projects: artistic director in the music
department at École secondaire Saint-Luc, co-founder of the Musique
Fest Québec music festival, initiator of efforts to Frenchify the
JazzFest, which at that time was held at McGill University, collaborator in
television programs, and producer of several musical comedies. For the past
24 years, he has contributed to the program and selection for the Découvertes series
of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. He has also taught
at the Université du Québec à Montréal and the
Université de Montréal. Currently, he is the producer and director
of shows and CD recordings for Productions DG Spects.
